Hands of Nepal is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to creating sustainable employment and long term commerce in Rural Nepal. Your donations help build economic development through education and training, funding for supplies and artisanal tools and by providing global market access for marginalized women in the rural villages of Nepal.
EDUCATION & TRAINING: Nepal is well known for the traditional art of weaving. The rural weaving communities, unlike the urban factories, produce one of a kind apparel and accessories designed for the local Nepali markets. Urban factories use patterns and maintain consistent quality standards that are lacking in rural weaving communities. Rural weaving communities need access to and make products designed and consistently crafted for global markets. Hands of Nepal created this website to give our weavers access to the US market to sell their products and we work with our weavers to train them to weave using designs and quality control standards specific to the US market. In time we will expand into other global markets.
We offer a monthly sponsorship program to help educate and train Nepali women in the traditional art of weaving using designs and consistent quality standards for a global market. If you would like to sponsor a weaver apprentice click here to get started.
WEAVING SUPPLIES & LOOMS: We source supplies from Nepal, Mongolia, and eastern China and with your donations we can place larger supply orders and receive volume discounts. Every donation helps us to buy our supplies at lower prices which means more profit for the weaving communities.
With your donation we can buy looms for our apprentice weavers and replace the worn out looms of our experienced weavers that cannot be repaired. Looms for our weavers can be purchased for $200 to $800 depending on the length of the loom. Any size donation will help to buy looms for weavers in our rural weaving communities.
GLOBAL MARKET ACCESS: Web Partner Group has generously donated one year of website hosting and ecommerce development to Hands of Nepal so that we may reach a global audience for our artisanal products.
OUR 100% COMMITMENT
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the donated funds we receive are sent to and used for artisan support and bringing their hand crafted products to the global market. We do not use any of these funds for our expenses such as overhead, administration, travel, etc.
Thank you for your generosity.
